Frequently asked questions
- Which devices does the app run on? IFC View is a single app for Mac, iPad and iPhone. One download, one purchase — the Pro upgrade is shared across your devices through your Apple Account.
- What files are supported?
.ifc and .ifczip models from any BIM authoring tool (Revit, ArchiCAD, Tekla, Vectorworks, and others), plus glTF and GLB models on import.
- What's included in the free version? Opening and viewing any supported model, orbit/pan/zoom navigation with view presets, the full object tree mirroring the spatial and type hierarchy, complete IFC property sets and quantities for every element, isolate/hide/highlight, section and clipping tools, measurements, and markups.
- What does the Pro version unlock? Federated multi-model loading, multiple tabs, advanced measurement tools, saved custom viewpoints, and export of snapshots, PDF reports, BCF issue files, quantity take-offs to CSV and GLB — through a single one-time in-app purchase, with no subscription.
- How do I unlock Pro? Through the in-app purchase, available from any screen with a locked feature.
- Can I open several models together? Yes. Federated loading combines multiple IFC files into one scene, so disciplines can be reviewed side by side. It is part of the Pro upgrade.
- How do I open a model? From Finder or the Files app, from Mail, or from any app that can share a document — or from within IFC View itself.
- Does the app work offline? Yes. All viewing, measuring and exporting happens on your device; an internet connection is only needed to process the Pro purchase.
- How do I restore my Pro purchase? Use the restore option on any screen showing a locked feature. The purchase is tied to your Apple Account and works on all your devices.
Sample models
Don't have an IFC file at hand? These sample models let you try every feature of the app straight away. Download them and open them in IFC View — on the Mac from Finder, on iPad and iPhone from the Files app or by tapping a link directly.
The three files describe the same building in different disciplines, so they can also be opened together to try federated models.
